It was their first encounter that landed them in newfound territory.

Up and coming wedding planner Bri St. James is in the height of her career. As the CEO of Building Bridges LLC, Bri is driven by determination for success, and each day makes for new opportunities abound. However, while planning the wedding of one of Chicago’s hottest couples, Bri’s focus is shifted when the strum of a nocturnal voice captures her attention. Being an empath has empowered her sense of compassion for others, so she’s not only drawn to him because of his broken heart but also from a fierce attraction that sparks her interest and tap dances on a groove on her heart. Getting involved with someone who’s not open to love may prove to be the most difficult road Bri has ever journeyed, but she’s unable to stop herself from falling into an irresistible tango of love.

World-renowned photographer Raphael Valentine hasn’t been in the public eye since the tragic death of his fiancée four years prior. To date, his time is spent helping his charity of choice—educating the community about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. For him, love is a thing of the past until meeting Bri St. James at his brother’s rehearsal dinner made Raphael question what he’d always believed to be true. There was no explanation for the riot of pulsing sensations that ripped through his core when his eyes met hers. The unquenchable heat that followed stirred his soul, sending his heart on a quest he himself hadn’t agreed to venture on. As a friendship between the two flourishes, and they're cloaked in a dynamic surge of desire, Raphael is met with the ultimate challenge: surrender to a second chance at love or abandon his happily ever after for a lifetime.
This book was sexually intense. Heavy laden with sexual innuendo and romantic prowess, With Your Permission, is erotic and lovely.

With Your Permission, could put any of these popular romance titles on its knees. Eloquently written characters, grin-inducing romance; and sex that lit up the pages, made this novel a sure winner.

Bri runs a wedding planning business, and her company has grown exponentially. Things are looking up. Her career is on the uptick, but her love life is nonexistent.

Raphael. She wants this man bad always has. But Raphael is not looking her way. Fiercely good looking with a foreign tongue, Raphael is a walking, talking wet dream. Except, he’s not dating anyone right now—not even, Bri

The highlight of this book is the chemistry between our hero and heroine. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts.

Talk about sexual tension. Whew.

Every moment, every French phrase was something to behold. This beautiful chocolate man spoke French fluently and wet-panties inducing-ly.

It was a treat to watch them come together, and come together they did, in a romantic, sexy meeting.

The romance was on point and perfectly paced. It had just the right amount of slow-burn.

The plot was clear and easy to follow. The book was well put together and thoroughly entertaining.

This series is so good and I highly recommend it.

But, you can't have Raphael, he's mine.

Business brought them together. Love could tear them to pieces.

A knight in shining armor can’t come fast enough for Kirby Allen. Broke and on her own, she longs for the chance to live a better life. Without a stable place to live and no money to her name, she has to do something and fast.

Familial pride and a sense of tradition fuel Channing Lucas’ desire to run his father’s company. There is just one thing standing in his way.

His eccentric mother and her ultimatum. Get married or lose his family’s business forever.

After a predetermined ‘chance meeting’ in a Las Vegas casino, Channing and Kirby decide they can both get what they want and enter into a business deal. What starts as a marriage of convenience, evolves into complications neither expected. And the strangers find themselves fighting not only to maintain their deal, but struggling to hold on to their hearts.

Talk about slow burn. Love and Loopholes did not give you sweet quick and fast. No insta-love is to be found where. What you get is a slow burn style romance that went on for pages before you got that sweet first kiss—and in this case, it couldn’t happen soon enough.

Kirby is having a rough go of things. Her job doesn’t pay enough—not to mention enough hours to supplement her lack of pay. On top of it all, she has no place to go except for her friend Gina’s which is almost the same as being homeless.

Channing has all he’s ever wanted except the reins to his dead father’s business. His eclectic mother agrees to give him her share and the entirety of the business if he does one thing—marry a total stranger, by midnight that night.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, this is where Kirby literally steps in. A chance meeting at a casino puts the two together, legally, wed, and bound by a contract.

Kirby and Channing were a charming couple. I’m always a fan of the enemies to lovers trope. It’s my absolute favorite. I don’t know what it is I love about difficult men in books but I adore a hard-shelled man which Channing was to his core. I love the brooding and the adversity to love. I guess it’s because I know that he’s secretly eager to love and whatever woman he’s with will rock him to his core. I love watching that happen.

I was worried at beginning of the book because it started moving fairly quickly and that always concerns me. But, once you get to the core of the story (the contract) things slowed down and gave us that delicious slow burn we all (most of us) love.

I’m glad this author approached me for review because her writing is solid, her story had smooth and believable progression, and it had the kind of romance I crave and root for.

Not to mention the sexy times though few were passionate and stayed away from doing too much. It was not overwhelming and fit the timing and the story well.

It was honestly done well. I don’t have any complaints. A decent story where the billionaire gets the girl and they both get the love they thought they didn’t deserve.

Recommended for billionaire trope lovers.

It all came down to me.

The one who followed the rules never went looking for trouble – I kept to myself. I just wanted to take care of my family. To not constantly look over my shoulder, worried about the things that went bump in the night.

I just wanted to survive.

But that wasn’t meant to be.

As luck – or fate, or something – would have it, the trouble found me.

I followed a rabbit through the wreckage of a half-ruined world to get back what was mine and wound up at the end of it.

In Wonderland.

But there’s nothing magical about it.

I’m out of my seat clapping like that Drake meme like I just watched my favorite player make a killer play.
I’m a proud mother.

Aly, (which is a clever play on Alice, btw) lives in a dystopian-esque world where the poor are poor, and the rich keep getting richer.

All she has is her grandmother—who lives in a “nursing home,” of sorts and her younger sister, Nadia whom she’d give her life for. In Wonder, she gets to prove that when her sister goes missing, in the dangerous part of town—and no way to get back without endangering her own life and her sister’s.

What sets off from that point is the thing that brings the ‘Alice and Wonderland,’ inspiration to helm.

Maddox is a soldier, kind of. His job is to do the bidding of his, “Queen,” Ches, whose rule is questionable but deserves all of his loyalty. He never signed up to save a girl from the other side of town—but he couldn’t rightfully leave her to die. This single decision sets off a rabbit in the hole series of events, that changes all of their lives.

Alice in Wonderland has always been this wacky tale to me. I’d never fully grasped the story or its characters, but it’s always fascinated me. I’ve read a number of re-tellings, all of which I loved.

But, of course, I never imagined the characters as anything other than a blonde girl in a cutesy blue dress, and a rabbit with a pocket watch, running around talking about being late.

I also envision the Queen and her red and black, Queen of heart, minions.

But to imagine this tale as this dystopian-esque, contemporary-ish, fantasy with black men and women at the forefront never crossed my mind. I can’t begin to tell you how much it means though.

Non-black people always like to make it seem like Blacks are doing too much when we advocate for “Black” versions of things, but it’s not so much about the whitewashing, at least it isn’t for me, but more so about being seen. Allowing our children, our teens and the adults even to see black people in positions of grandeur, power, status, happiness. We want black vampires, superheroes. We want the Black James Bond’s and even the Alice in Wonderlands. We deserve stories where the black characters are not always impoverished and stricken with grief.

I can’t say that was the intention here but it brings to the forefront the importance and presence of such stories.

Jones took an old but classic and made it current and her own while maintaining the elements of this intriguing and delirious tale.

Weaved throughout the story ever so cleverly written, the twins, the play on names, the introduction of the two black Queens, the world in which the sisters stumbled—it was all so well done. I won’t get into detail for fear of spoilers—but you definitely get the Alice in Wonderland inflections without it feel repetitive or like a direct carbon copy.

This is a story of delusions of power and wealth. It’s a story of not staying down and fighting for what you believe in. It’s a story in which love and wisdom prevail. It’s a story of the depth of black intelligence and sustainability.

It starts off slow—but takes off in a sprint fairly quickly. The characters are solid, and you’ll care about them. You’ll be amazed by this world, and you’ll be wondered by wonder, pulled in by a story that is so outside of this author’s norm.

I’m proud of this story. I’m in love with it, and I’m proud of this author.

I hope that this is the beginning of many out of the box reads from Jones, because for a first time shot, she hit it right out of the park.

Highly recommended.

Some of my favorite quotes: (They’re strictly romance centered, because I am a sap—but this book is not heavy on the romance, so don’t go looking for a contemp’ romance, this book is more than that.)

“Trust me, Alyson –what I’m about to do to you doesn’t have shit to do with pity.”

“Doesn’t matter where I am –if I say I’ve got your back, I’ve got it. Okay?”

I reached for her hand, pulling her close enough to tuck under my arm. “Do you think I don’t consider your feelings an emergency?” “Mad…” “I’m serious,” I insisted. “If we’re apart, and you need –or want –to talk, I consider it a priority because I consider you a priority.”'

Kierra has been in the honeymoon period with Monica and Lane for a few months. But as the year comes to a close she is confronted with questions she can't answer alone, because she's not an island anymore. Is this temporary? Do they love her as much as she loves them? Is there room for one more? In this New Year's interlude, check in on this polyamorous triad as they make their way carefully from lust to love. With still a lot of lust.

New Year, New We is an interlude in The Spies Who Loved Her series. These erotic romantic suspense stories are about sexy secret agents and the civilians who bring them to their knees.
New Year's Eve is a night of figurative and orgasmic fireworks for Monica, Lane, and Kierra—as per their usual.
Kierra, Monica, and Lane have found a nice groove in their new spot. At least two of them have. Kierra has all she’s ever wanted. A good job, a high-paying promotion on the horizon and all the orgasms from two of her favorite people she could ever want.

But she’s beginning to wonder if this all, too good to be true? Do Monica and Lane really love her, or will these now constant sexcapades tire them of her?

Kierra, we, sure enough, hope not.

My faves are back and are up to full-on shenanigans.

A mission that calls for them to be just as they are allows for them to explore sides of themselves and emotions they didn’t realize they had.

While this book is almost full on erotica (okay, Kat, heard you!) it does allow for the reader to see a more in-depth emotional side to the characters. Lane has always come off as the more caring of the three while Monica is the hard shell.

In New Year, New We, we see Monica as a woman with feelings, even if they are deeply attached to Kierra’s. We also get to see Kierra as less confident than she normally is which humanizes and softens her image in a good way. Don’t trip, she’s still the same sassy sexy kitten she’s been in books one and two.

I liked the way this story explored the depths of their relationship and what it really is outside of the sex though of course, it’s hot enough to singe your fingers.

The spy stuff is exciting as usual, it’s actually allowed me to enjoy this type of story more. Though it acts as a catalyst for the true stars of the story, it’s just as exciting as the characters whom I hope I’ve convinced you to love by now.

Not to mention we’re introduced to two new characters and I can say with each new book I get more excited for where this series is going.

Kat brought her usual game—sarcastic but effective humor and sass. Sex that will make you blush, and a story that is both not lacking in emotion or excitement. It’s always a win-with with Jackson and as long as she keeps writing, I’ll keep supporting.

As always highly recommended.

He has a big…smile.
It was the first thing I noticed that day until he stood. His grey sweatpants hung off his hips and I didn’t want to look. I really didn’t.
I’m a feminist.
I don’t believe in objectifying men. I don’t catcall men. I don’t ogle the bodies of men. I don’t view men as objects of my affection rather than complex people with feelings, wants, and needs of their own. I don’t treat men the way society often treats women.
I treat men the way I want to be treated as a woman—with respect!
So, when Carlos ran into me while I was reviewing my interview questions in the park, it surprised me to see my photography classmate out of context. I was also surprised to see as much of him as I did.
It wasn’t just that it caught my eye. It was the fact that it held my attention.
It wasn’t just that it was large. It was the fact that it was visibly large.
It wasn’t just that it was Carlos Richmond. It was the fact that I am Akila Bishara.
And I am not seduced by anything other than intelligent conversation, witty rapport, and meaningful actions.
I am not seduced by a dick print.
I am not.
Seriously, I’m not.

Omg. Y’all. Y’ALL. This book was the bomb. It was not what I was expecting. It was everything all at once.

Okay, deep breaths, Jazmen. Deep breaths.

First of all, Danielle, come through with this romantic intense drama!

Akila is me, except she’s gotten what she’s looking for. As an aspiring writer with dreams of writing any and everywhere—I related to Akila on a deep level. It almost brought a tear to my eye when she accomplished her goals. It’s deeper than a reader reading a book, at least in that aspect it was.

She was determined and strong, and every time I heard about her kinky curly hair I rejoiced. Yes, to the natural queens embracing their natural beauty.

I really dug her character. Her headstrong-ness, her sass, and her strength were qualities that leaped off the page and kept me engaged.

And despite that, I found a new book bae.

Carlos. Where do I even start?

Carlos is male perfection without being fully physically described. You feel more of his character before you even get to understand his physical qualities.

Danielle touches on the physical but she doesn’t harp on it and I found myself appreciating that because I essentially fell in love with the soul of the characters and not what they looked like specifically.

It was pretty genius.

She created love while making the reader fall in love with her story and her characters and that’s no easy feat.

This book is passionate and angsty and intense and though my fanning hand is tired, I could not get enough. I went through 80-90 percent of this book, in about 2 hours.

I devoured it and abandoned all sense of responsibility.

I can’t even fully describe what I’m feeling without completely rambling.

But this book is just that good.

The pacing was torturing and sweet. The characters were multi-dimensional and realistic. The plot was thick, yet consistent and perfectly paced.

The secondary characters were supporting and engaging. The romance, whew, Y'all. It was everything I would have wanted without even trying.

I can’t recommend this one enough—and when you get through, don’t thank me. Just don’t take my man, Carlos. He’s not single.
Uhkay?

I know this review is probably more rambly than your used to from me. But a good book will do that to you. At least, they do it to me.

Please pick this one up. It's not one you want to miss!

From book to book, the one thing you can count on with Nicole Falls' books is that they will make you laugh. First Last Kiss was no different. From the first page to the last one, humor is the star of this romantic comedy.

Calista is what I imagine Nicole to be in real life. I could feel more of Ms. Fall's voice in Calista's character. Outspoken, but oddly coy, funny in an unintentional way--and extremely down to earth.

Calista wasn't looking for love but found it in the arms of a man named Kirk. Despite carrying the name of a man we all know to be trifling--that is if you watch Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, and there is no need to pretend you don't. Kirk is suave and attentive, and an all-around stand-up guy.

Taking on the responsibility of raising a child that's not his--and so hands-on, is definitely an admirable trait. Together the two, Cali and Kirk fought the inevitable--and the reader gets to enjoy the journey.

That is one thing Nicole specializes in, bringing two people together despite the circumstances and keeping them together in spite of them.

Calista's best friend is getting married to a man she seemingly just met. Although it catches Cali off guard, she's thrilled for her bestie--and is in full on plan mode--when she's thrust into Kirk's company more often than she intended--because Kirk is her bestie's fiancee's best friend. (Whew, that felt like a mouth full.)

I enjoyed the overall relationships in the novel because if you are an avid reader, you know that secondary characters are just as important as our MC's.

From the outspoken bestie, the not so well physically Mama, to the unassuming but funny fathers, they all played a crucial role in the progression of the story.

I love a good solid black family, and there was no shortage despite the interesting circumstances.

It was a treat to watch it all happen.

Note, this is not a quick moving read by any means, it all happens in real time movement. That is until you get to the end, where things are sped up, and completed with a realistic and smile-inducing HEA.

This is typical Nicole Falls romance, humorous, realistic--and pro-black. I love what she does for black romance, and in black romance. Y'all already know I love me some Nicole Falls. So, do what you know needs to be done--and grab yourself a copy of her latest read--because you know I would never steer you wrong.

You already know what it is. Don't act brand new. LOL.

If B. Love drops it, you know I'm reading it.

Don't fret. This will be quick.

You're not going to get much in this one, and I mean not much at all. You'll start, you'll blink and it will be over with.

Dana is at this hotel, a hotel for sex--because of a bet she lost with her best friend.

It's there on her way out that she bumps into Latimore--literally.

He won't let her go. He's literally standing in her way--and although he's just a stranger, there's a magnetic pull--bringing the two together.

A weekend is all they've promised each other.

Ladies, and gents--this is a sex novel. Granted the book is about 8,000 words--there is a lot packed into it besides the sex--although that's the meat of it.

B. Love manages yet again to give us just a taste of something, leaving us wanting for me--and leaving us behind like a well-sexed one-night stand.

She's going to leave you satisfied, but sis, you might not get all of what you want.

You do get to know Latimore, and Dana fairly well for the novelette to be so short. It's a mini novelette. You understand Latimore a little more, and Dana gets a nice introduction.

The author says in the book, it's the last of these brothers--so don't go bothering her for more. Leave that to me. I ain't too proud to beg. LOL.

Anywho, for 99 cents, you get a pretty solid chapter length novel--that will give you enough to whet your appetite--and then you can follow it up with some other B. Love books.

Solid characters for its length, steamy, chemistry-laden sex, and a happily ever after ending--you can't go wrong.

Grab you one.

I'm disappointed.

This book had all the potential to be a five star read, but reaching and clean cut scenarios killed it.

Noah and Valerie have been playing a game of cat and mouse for more than a year. Despite not having been able to catch her, Noah is determined to make Valerie his, by any means necessary--even if it means waiting another year, or two, or ten.

Don't worry you won't wait that long--which was essentially apart of the problem.

Love doesn't need to be hard but when its too easy, it doesn't read well.

Noah chased Valerie for an entire year, and in a matter of pages gave in, just as easily. It didn't come off as very realistic, or even rational on behalf of the author.
Make the chase seem like it was that, a chase.

Little Miss Val, toyed with Noah for a year, only to be okay'ing him just too easy.

Which leads me to my issue with the book as a whole. There was a lot of reaching (see: doing too much, where it is uncalled for, also known as team too much.)

When things just start falling into place like it was never wrong, but it was--I lose my patience and enjoyment as quickly as some of these characters call in love.

I'm all for happily ever after. What I don't is forced conflict that should shatter a situation, fixed in a matter of pages.

Example: Noah and Val are on a date, and just at the end of the date--a black lives matter-esque killing happens before their very eyes, and a secret is exposed in an unbelievable manner.
Then it just so happens the victims mother, lives down the street from Valerie's mother and is at the house when Valerie comes to visit.

That's far too convenient. It wasn't natural and felt forced. You can make fetch happen.
Anyway regardless of that, I did like the book--even though it dangled between being unnatural and romantic. The romance often time won out.

Readers will especially like the gentle way Noah deals with Valerie. His patience is warming, and his immediate love for Valerie and his obvious care for her needs will make him a quick book boyfriend.

Valerie is no slouch, running her own real estate business, and being an all-around boss.
Together they definitely give something to look forward to.

The supporting characters were just as fun, a mouthy supporting sister, a daddy niece, and errant parents helped to progress this story forward.

While I wasn't in love with this one--the bad did not outweigh the good. It's worth reading and for those of you that like your romance as neat as possible, this is perfect for you.

No moments of tension, or banter to get through.

Needs work, but worth reading. Three solid stars.
